Aspen Meadows Aquatic Center
After finding it difficult to rent convenient pool time to practice Watsu, Debbie and Greg Ching decided to build their own pool building in 2000. They sketched out their ideas on a computer and turned to a trusted general contractor Solar Works Construction George Blakey to make it a reality. Pool construction began in September 2001 with the water trucked up in November 2003 (as no ground water is being used in the pool). Classes began November 2004.
Aspen Meadows Aquatic Center provides a pleasing ecological environment for aquatic therapy. For participants and their instructor we provide a beautiful, comfortable, state of the art facility. This green building has been featured in past Boulder County Solar and Green Home Tours.
Ceiling to floor windows (with motorized insulated shades) provide a peaceful view of the forest for the practitioner and client alike. Bamboo walls and a patterned concrete faux slate radiant floor add to the serene environment. A solar-powered windchime breaks the silence. The mild salt water system is a safe and gentle alternative to harsher traditional chlorine sanitizer systems. Low VOC paints and a fresh air heat recovery system keep the air healthy for sensitive people.
